Introduction to ‘Our Geographies’ series

Introduction to the series:

This is the first entry in the series “Our Geographies“, an attempt to provide examples from India to teach various aspects of Geography to students in Middle School and above.

Students: Read these entries and try to make connections with other similar and related topics in Geography. This way, you will learn both Geography and learn about human diversity. If you have questions or comments, be sure to respond in the area below or email us.

Teachers: These are not intended to be lesson plans per se. However, the innovative Geography teacher will surely be able to devise lesson plans using the entries in this series. If you are such a Geography teacher and you devise a lesson plan or unit using this material, TIIGS would very much like to provide the lesson plan or unit (or a brief description and a URL to it) on this blog. Please contact us.

To begin with, links are provided (at the bottom of the posting) only to the U.S. national Geography standards. Soon, I will start providing links to some other national standards also.

Please check back here frequently for new entries. Or, subscribe to the RSS feed for automatic updates.

Dr. Chandra Shekhar Balachandran,
Director, TIIGS.
