Professor Mumtaz Khan, Ph.D.

Mumtaz Khan is a cultural geographer who is currently Professor of Geography, Jamia Millia Islamia University (New Delhi). Among his individual and collaborative publications is the book “Mystical Space, Cosmology And Landscape: Towards A Cultural Geography Of India” (2002). His research interests include the study of social morphology of villages, marital linkages, sacred space and pilgrimage, folk regions, and the interpretation of cultural landscapes.

Renu Appachu, LLB, DBA.

Renu Appachu has a law and business background. After a chance meeting with Mother
Teresa, Renu entered social service. Since 1993, she has worked for stemming the spread of HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among marginalized people (hijras, men who have sex with men, sex workers, etc.). She established a NGO called Jagruthi, dedicated to this work. Ashoka Fellowship, Governor of Karnataka award, and the Kalasha Award have honored her. Currently, she also runs a home care center for girl children who are sexually exploited and endangered by HIV and STI.
SureshJayaram
Professor Suresh Jayaram, MFA.

Suresh Jayaram has a Master of Fine Arts from M.S. University, Baroda (1992). He is a visual artist and art historian. He taught Art History at the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath where he also served as Dean. Passionate about ancient and contemporary Indian art, he has exhibited his work individually and in group shows in India and abroad. He has received numerous scholarships for work in India and elsewhere and writes frequently for art publications. He was a member of the Karnataka Lalithkala Academy (2002-2004). He is founder and director of Visual Arts Collective, Bangalore.
